When buying a garter for your wedding, is the bride supposed to purchase it or someone else?

I know there are always weird little superstitions and wanted to check on this one. I am getting married in September and getting ready to purchase my garter. Does the bride traditionally buy their own garter or is there some sort of superstition that someone else is supposed to buy it for them?
